Challenge

“75% of the world’s undernourished and absolute poor live in rural areas, where most of them are involved in agriculture. Investing in small scale farmers will directly address the world’s hunger problem.” – Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. In the Mpumalanga Oliphants River Valley women have access to land and water but are crippled by the lack of resources and expertise to farm on the land. Unemployment is very high in this area.

Our project will provide agricultural inputs such as seeds, chicks, livestock, small irrigation equipment and tools to the women. We will train them on, what can be farmed in their area, how to farm and how to manage their farming initiatives (management of funds, access to markets for their crops or livestock). Thus setting them up for success. Furthermore we will get the commitment of each participant and equip them to train and support others in their community.

Long-Term Impact Donate now!Start fundraising

This project will not only reduce hunger and poverty in Mpumalanga but will create jobs for a community that has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. The direct beneficiaries will be 100 women and final beneficiaries will be +500 people. We will get the commitment of each participant and equip them to train and support others in their community. At least four other people will benefit from the job creation development initiative of the first 100 people.
